Halloween 2011

We had quite a crazy Halloween this year. Complete with a few tricks to go with our mountain of treats. Our kids loved their costumes and got to trick or treat with friends. Kira even went off on her own with a big group of girls her age and felt pretty grown up. Thankfully, Calvin and his group of friends and Isaac went with Jeff because they met up with a creepy twenty-three year old out trying to scare people. Jeff ended up chasing the guy down with another neighbor and the guy ended up getting handcuffed and taken away by the police. But that's another blog post entirely. Maybe I'll have Jeff write that one. My poor Kate witnessed a kitten run over by a car right in front of her. She and her friend balled for a good half hour. It was really sad. She wrote the family a note telling them how she knew how they felt and she was so sad for them but she knows it will be okay. It was really sweet. Of course we haven't delivered it yet. We will.

Aside from that, we had a good old-fashioned, fun halloween. Matt & Elizabeth came over to hand out candy while we trick-or-treated with the kids. They each got piles of candy and had fun trading with all of their friends afterwards at our house. The ones who came home early sat on the back porch with blankets and the fireplace and watched the first Harry Potter while Matt & Elizabeth baked Amish Friendship bread inside. (Ask Matt when you add the oil. He'll love that) :)

Hope you had a Happy Halloween too! (minus the creepy drug addict and a poor little kitten).

  2. The kids all look so cute in their costumes! If one of our girls had seen a kitten get hit, we would have had some serious tears. I am sure Kate is the same way, poor girl!

Nolan and I are having a hard time picturing Jeff chasing down a criminal. We definitely need more details on that one.

  4. So, I have trouble reading directions sequentially... and in their entirety... It only took 20 minutes of careful skimming to salvage the project... :) Thanks for having us over, we had a great time!
