Disneyland Day 3-4

This has been such a fun family trip! We happened to be down here with 2 other families from our new neighborhood. We didn't plan it, but it just happened that all 3 of our families planned trips for the same time. Between the three families there is someone for everyone and the kids have loved palling around with their friends. We've let Kira and Calvin have free reign of both parks with their group (cell phones make it so much easier). They've carried their own tickets, snacks, backpack and money and navigated all around running from ride to ride. There are 5 minute wait times at nearly every ride so they've hit a ton. They've even figured out the fast passes and been very efficient with their ride planning. They've had a blast! It's fun to see how responsible they have been and how grown up they feel. Then Jeff and I have spent time with the 3 youngers taking them on the littler rides and other activities the older kids aren't as interested in. But they youngers have friends too so all 3 couples have been palling around with the littles too! I'm sure our kids will remember this trip forever.

Mikey has kind of hit his fear threshold. We have forced him on every ride he's tall enough for (with the magic boots) so now he thinks every ride is going to be scary. For some reason he's latched on to rides with water or waterfalls as the scariest. So whenever we go on a new ride he goes through the checklist with me:

Mikey: Mom, is this ride scary?
Me: No.
Mikey: Does it have scary things?
Me: No.
Mikey: Does it have water?
Me: No.
Mikey: Does it have waterfalls?
Me: No.
Mikey: Does it go fast?
Me: No.

It probably doesn't help that half of the time I'm telling him that everything is going to be fine and then he turns out to be terrified. Needless to say, he doesn't believe me anymore. But, he's still been a trooper and the other half of the time, he loves it and wants to go again.

The parade has to be one of my all time highlights of the trip. Mikey was hee-larious! He stood right on the curb, front row, and danced his little heart out. He was shakin' his booty, doing Saturday Night Fever moves with his fingers pointing and blowing kisses to the princesses. Everyone around us was cracking up. The ladies behind us even thanked Jeff after the parade because they said he was the cutest dancer and they just loved watching him even more than watching the parade. The smile on his face was so big during the entire parade. I only wish I had a video camera. It was priceless!
