Speech Contest

Yesterday Kira participated in the American Fork Speech Contest at City Hall. There were about 35 contestants ranging in age from 7-12th grade. The theme was "America, Our Country." Her English teacher had the students prepare speeches and memorize them for class and 6 chose to participate in the Saturday event for extra credit. Kira won an Honorable Mention and also won $100! I was really proud of her. I would have never been able to stand and deliver a memorized 3 minute speech with passion in front of 70 or so people and a panel of judges and a group of my peers when I was 13! (Maybe not even now)! You are awesome Kira! Of the 35 contestants, her class swept 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place and the other 2 got an honorable mention! Pretty impressive for her teacher, Mrs. Lefler. I'm so glad Kira has her for a teacher!
