Puerto Vallarta - Day 3 - Yelapa
Today we took a boat to Yelapa. We went down to the beach and hired a boat and driver to take the 9 of us out for the day. Andrew and Jenny had used this same guy a few times before. Pretty awesome to go with someone who's been here before...
We helped Sammy launch "The Night of the Iguana" and headed out along the coast to Yelapa, a remote little village accessible only by boat. On the way to and from Yelapa we stopped and snorkeled and jumped off the boat along the rocky coast. We passed little hidden beaches with small resorts or private homes only accessible by boat. After a 45 minute boat ride, we beached the boat in Yelapa and hiked on the stone and concrete pathway through the little streets and alleyways of Yelapa to a little waterfall and washed off the salt water with the refreshingly cold river water. Then we headed to the beach where we claimed 9 beach loungers and parked it for the next few hours. The little beachfront restaurant sold fresh fish tacos, lobster, virgin Pina Coladas and the best fresh guacamole and pico for only a few pesos. They brought it to us right on the beach where we sat in the sun, threw the frisbee, swam in the ocean and rented a stand up paddle board. It was heavenly!
We came home and swam in the warm hotel pool to wash off the dried salt water while a few in our group went up to the condo with signs of heat stroke. Not fun. :( It was a lot of sun and heat today for us Utahns in March! Hopefully everyone will be feeling better by tomorrow...
