Random Memories

 Random Memories:

Isaac: surfing at Lani's in the crystal clear water and seeing the fish, the reef and turtles swimming below. Pushing below the waves and watching the wave go over me and seeing the bottom of the wave. Also surfing on Sunday and getting pounded by some huge waves over and over and feeling like I shouldn't surf on Sundays. 

Kate: Playing an intense match of spikeball on the beach against Mom and Kira and laughing and playing and hitting some insane, professional shots. And then going to sit on the edge of the beach to watch the surfers and the sunset and whales with everyone.

Kira: Hauling butt in the kayak on the way out to Mokoli'i and surfing in the kayak and sliding down the front of the wave on the way back into the beach. 

Mikey: catching waves on the boogie board and carving on the waves at White Plains beach with Isaac and Beckham way out on the outer break.

Mikey: I remember me and Isaac snorkeling and the giant turtle scaring Isaac and making him jump a mile. (At Puaena Point the first time we went there to try and surf. The same time we were all swimming/snorkeling/surfing and Jeff was closest to the beach and he saw a guy almost steal our stuff sitting on the beach). 

Kira: Walking around the Hilton Waikaloa Hotel and seeing the dolphins (kind of sad) and the lagoon. 

Kira: Reading Harry Potter in various locations and everyone reading Harry Potter at the same time.

Dad: 

Mom: Diving down and listening to the whales at Waimea Bay and ending our last day watching the sunset from Waimea while we played in the surf as a family. 

Mom: Also getting pounded by the shorebreak at Waimea the day before and getting pulled out deeper by the current and paddling hard to get back in. I was getting a little scared because we weren't getting any closer in to shore and I was getting a little tired and we were stuck out there with Dad, me, Beckham and Mikey. Just as we were getting to the shore, we watched the lifeguard pulling in another swimmer/body surfer that had been pulled out too far only a few yards from us.

Other memories:

Hiking in the mud to Maunawilli and cliff jumping as a family.

Girls Day - Hanauma Bay sewer pump out so we couldn't go. Lighthouse hike with the whole family. Cold and rainy. After getting some amazing malasadas at a little food truck, the boys went to pick up Beckham at the airport and the girls went to the Bishop's Museum, ate Birria tacos for lunch at a little Mexican/Vietnamese restaurant. Ice cream at a little shop in Haleiwa. 

Beach Day: White Plains beach. Surfing, boogie boarding, reading Harry Potter. 

Spikeball! 

Sitting on the surfboard at White Plains Beach and peeling and eating a fresh mango with a knife. (Mom) 

Tons of surfing for Beckham and Isaac. Met Jamie O'Brien at Pipeline Beach while he was out playing with his two black labs.

Church in Haleiwa.  

Kayaking to Mokoli'i (Chinaman's Hat). Wrong map, 2-hour drive. Fun paddle, playing in the waves on the secret beach on back side of the island. Crawling in the cave and getting splashed by waves. Hiking around the island and losing the girls and dad for a minute. The boys swamping their kayak over and over and Beck losing his shirt in the ocean from tipping over and over and spilling everything. Catching waves on the way back in and "surfing" with the kayaks. Stopping with the boys at a gross, little roadside hamburger place that smelled disgusting. Not sure why we stayed and ordered. I just felt bad I guess.
