10 Teeth Pulled This Week
We've had a busy week at the dentist. On Wednesday Mikey had his last two baby teeth pulled in preparation for braces next month. One was pretty loose but the other had some serious fat boy roots! He was pretty sore for a few days.
On Friday Calvin and Kate both had their wisdom teeth out. To be honest, I was a little bit surprised that they were still open and doing the surgery given the current situation with coronavirus. But they said as long as they were healthy and everyone in the family was healthy, they were good to go! They were a little outrageous when they were coming out of anesthesia. Wow! Hilarious but lots of swearing! Oops.
Calvin kept talking about flying through the dentist's office with Sid the Sloth in his Interstellar dream. He asked the nurse for a kiss several times. He thought he was driving a Ford Cobra and grabbed the armrests on the dental chair and kept saying "Vrrrrooom! Vrrrrooooom!" like he was driving a car. While he was sitting in a wheelchair waiting for Kate to come out of her anesthesia he and Kate were screaming at each other and Calvin says "I gotta get out of here and started backing his wheelchair out of the room. Jeff had to chase after him and get him to come back.
Kate kept talking/screaming about tik tok and how she was going to be "tik tok famous!" And saying "this better go viral!" She face-timed her friend Molly. Molly and her mom were laughing so hard while Kate was back and forth between screaming lots of b-words and screaming how much she loves Jesus! Molly's mom said it was the best part of her quarantine so far. She said "Is there any way we could get you to do this again? This is great!"
When they came home Mikey, Isaac, Jeff and I were laughing so hard we were crying! They're doing better now.
Things are still crazy with the coronavirus. I don't think it will change any time soon. Jeff is looking up a toilet paper calculator online and we went and looked at chickens today. All joking aside, it is a very serious situation with no quick end in sight. We talked to Kira today and we think it's pretty likely they will be bringing most missionaries around the world back to their home countries. Countries are closing their borders. Airlines have cut their international flights by up to 90%. There are travel bans and restrictions everywhere. California, New York, and 3 other states are in full lockdown. Schools are closed across the entire globe. Here in Utah, there are currently 136 cases of Covid-19 and zero deaths. In the United States, there are over 26,000 cases and 344 deaths. The measures we are taking are pretty drastic but it seems like that is what will be needed to flatten the curve. The economy is taking a major hit. They are talking about this being a depression, not a recession. People are scared. But on a personal level, it feels like we are just stuck in the house, bored and watching lots of movies. We're trying to get out and exercise every day. Today Jeff ran 14 miles and I hiked 3. Isaac went mountain biking on the trails behind Smith's for hours. Calvin and Kate aren't ready for exercise yet. This is the new "normal" for the next few weeks so I hope we can back off of the screens and start engaging more as a family. I hope Kira doesn't have to come home. She will be so sad. She loves Chile. She loves the people, the culture, the language, the food, everything. She will be so, so, so sad.

Mikey trying to smile with his numb mouth.
Lots of Xbox. :(
We woke up to snow Friday morning.
Home school.
Feeling pretty miserable.
Kate's note to me.
Some of the mountain bike "features" behind Smith's. Isaac is loving it!
Our garden starts.
Talking to Kira TWICE this week! Yay!
Kira showing the kids the only "technology" she has right now...and she is quarantined to her apartment all day! So they have nothing to complain about haha!
I guess it's still "family time"?
