Farm Life
I'm not sure what's happening here but were are turning into a little farm over here! It started with finding a chicken coop on KSL. We raced out to Eagle Mountain within an hour of it posting and bought it for $200, which was actually a pretty decent price. We have been searching for baby chicks for a couple of weeks. They've been sold out everywhere! So we've been working on the chicken coop just waiting to find chicks. In the meantime, Jeff went to IFA to get some supplies and they happened to have rabbits in. He and Mikey just couldn't resist and came home with two little bunnies. A few days later, Jeff and I were down in Spanish Fork and decided to stop in the Cal Ranch store there and they had chicks!!! So now we have 4 Rhode Island Red baby chicks, a Netherland Dwarf bunny and some sort of mix bunny. They have been a really fun distraction for us during this quarantine. The bunnies are so chill. They just snuggle with the kids while they do their homework and eat baby carrots out of their hands. It's adorable! And the fluffy little chicks are so cute and easy. This is way easier than a puppy!
Lots of things are closing right now. Schools are officially online-only until May 1st. Churches have suspended all meetings. All temples worldwide are now closed. Restaurants are only allowed to do drive-thru. Most National Parks have closed. Gyms are closed. My Ivory tennis is closed. All sports are canceled. Malls are closed. Parking lots are empty. Most people are working from home if possible. It's crazy and a little scary. We are mostly hunkered down at home with very few friends. All missionaries are returning to their home countries so Kira is in the process of trying to get home. She will quarantine for two weeks and then hopefully get reassigned somewhere in the U.S. We talked to her today and the latest information is that she will fly out of Santiago on a flight chartered by the church on Tuesday morning. She should arrive in SLC Tuesday night.
We've had some good things happening. The kids are settling into their online school routine and doing well. It's been much harder for Kate. She has a pretty heavy workload and a lot of difficult classes so she's been swamped. She's feeling pretty overwhelmed. I'm sure she'll catch up but it doesn't really match her learning style. She's pretty social and really enjoys the classroom.
We've also been way better at family prayer and scripture study. We've been doing it every day since Calvin challenged us to in his talk on Sunday. I've loved it!
