Happy Birthday Calvin!

I'm a little late but better late than never! Calvin turned 11 on August 2nd. We've decided to do birthday parties with friends only on the even years so this year was a family birthday party and he got to go do something fun with one friend. He chose Scott of course! We just love Scott! He is such a good friend to Calvin and such a good kid too. Calvin spent the two nights before his birthday up in Midway with the Tillmans at the Whiting's parents' home so they could be closer to the Park City Soccer Tournament. We drove up on the morning of his birthday to watch the game. We wanted to do something special for him at the game. Calvin told me that August 2nd is also "National Ice Cream Sandwich Day." I never verified that but I took his word for it and we brought ice cream sandwiches to the game for the team and their families. The boys sang happy birthday to Calvin. It was a little anti-climatic after they had just lost the game to La Roca, their big rivals, but I think Calvin still loved it.

Jeff took Calvin, Scott, Isaac and Jake down to the Provo Beach Resort after their morning soccer game in the Park City tournament. They rode the flowrider and spent the hour boogie boarding and trying to do barrell rolls on the boards. They also tried a little surfing. Jeff got pounded pretty hard and came home pretty sore but the boys LOVED it!

Later that night we had the Davis family over (Linda & her kids, Grandma & Grandpa Davis and Jim & Chanda and their kids) for asphalt pie. It was a hit! We sang to Calvin and then Mikey blew out the candles before the song was even over. We tried again but the wind kept blowing the candles out. Finally he got to blow out a few candles and we called it good and served up the ice cream pie.

The kids ran off to play night games in the backyard while we visited with the "grown ups." I hope Calvin had a great birthday. He is such an awesome kid!!
